Chevrolet was founded in 1911 in the USA by Louis Chevrolet and GM Founder William C Durant, it was then acquired by GM in 1917. In the US, Chevrolet offers a full range of automobiles, from compact cars to medium-duty commercial trucks.

Chevrolet Europe is a Swiss based firm which sells cars mainly produced by GM Daewoo. Up until 2005 Chevrolet UK sold a hand full of cars mainly US domestic models adapted for the European market. One of the favourite adapted US domestic models was the Corvette.

In 2005 all GM Daewoo models were rebranded to Chevrolet, except in South Korea and Vietnam. In the rest of the World Daewoo started rebranding to Chevrolet from 2003. The SUV range from Daewoo reverted ownership back to the SsangYong Motor Company.

The Chevrolet brand is currently undergoing a product restructuring in North America along with all other GM brands in order to fit into the parent company’s turnaround efforts and to rebuild GM. The aim for Chevrolet is to create more fuel efficient vehicles to compete with the likes of Toyota and Honda.
