The Michigan office of United Negro College Fund (UNCF) – the nation’s largest and most effective minority education association – will “Walk Back Through History” for students at the 25th UNCF Walk for Education. The event is scheduled Saturday, August 24, 2013 in Detroit at Belle Isle Casino. The silver anniversary event is a celebration of education and is expected to attract an estimated 1,500 community supporters to raise funds to provide students with the tools and support they need to attend and graduate from college.
The sponsors for the 25th Anniversary Walk for Education include Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Co., General Motors Co. and their respective UAW bargaining units, Bridgewater Interiors, Comerica Bank, Delphi Foundation, Fifth Third Bank, Henkel, McDonald’s, Meritor, Miller Canfield, Quicken Loans and HAP & Henry Ford Health Systems.
This year’s walk goal is to raise $ 500,000, which will in part provide scholarships for Michigan students. To assist in reaching our goal, the Sojourner Foundation is raffling a 2014 Chevrolet Impala LS. Raffle tickets are $ 20 and will benefit the UNCF 25th Anniversary 5K Walk for Education. UNCF President and CEO, Michael L. Lomax will be in attendance for the silver anniversary.
